Xmas 2008

I had a xmas party with my family this year. The very first time I had it at my new house. Both my family members and my hubby's family are here. I have been looking forward to that for very long, it was fun and enjoyable but very busy and tiring.

After a long day, we still got to clear up the house...esp tiring for a preggy like me..haaa..
But its still worthwhile, cos I believed everyone enjoy it. And my gdma came, she is a rare visitor okie..haaaa...

I have been feeling the kicks of the baby more vigourously since I reached 6 mth of my pregnancy process. 3 more months to go. The feeling is really very amazing. Now even my hubby can see and feel the kicks of the baby. If you focused your attention, you can see some movements at the tummy. Not only that, my tummy is now very obvious. Sometimes when I am in the train, I get a seat offer from others. But that is not always, very often, no one give up their seat for me, not because they didnt see, but I guess some sporean just wana act blur. This is esp for teenagers and aunties. For those who are so helpful to give up their seats, I really want to thank them. Few days ago, a guy who is standing saw me standing right in front of the priority seat yet no one offers their seats to me. He politely ask if I need a seat although he himself is standing. I believed if I were to say yes, he immediately will ask someone to give up their seat for me. I replied him "its okie", because I do not want to trouble him. But hes really very helpful.

Looking at the preggie club in my dept, Alison is the first to gave birth on Dec 24. Congratulations Kevin and Alison. So happy for them. So the next will be Jocelyn on Feb. Then follow by Janice, Christine and me in Mar.

Looking forward to my next medical apt. Bb is kicking me now again....haaaa..

My medical apt

Finally I reach my medical apt day. I can see my baby and know how is she doing again. That is my only motivation now and I am always looking forward to my monthly apt.

Hubby was late today, so I make my way to tmc myself despite the rain and the lightning. I am so used to be chauffer around since Im pregnant that I am feeling a bit uneasy when I got to travel to another place by bus and esp in the rain. I was a bit angry with my hb for being late...but was appease after a while . He was held up in a meeting and has try his best to rush over. He promised that he really wanted to see our baby. During my journey to tmc, I even talk to my bb telling her where we be going and not to scare despite the rain, mummy will be with her.

As usual, Dr Chan did a scanning for my bb and jokingly say that "still a girl", cos she knew we done a lot of shopping and all girl's stuffs. I was thinking "phew"..haaaa.....since I already knew its a girl, dont wish to have any changes.

Baby is so cute, she kept munching on something, the mouth kept open and close open and close. I ask Dr Chan, what is she eating, she say the baby is drinking water, drinking its own urine then recycle again lor.haaaaaa Thats funny. Besides, the baby is also kicking and kicking, I can see the aggressive movements of her legs, kicking non stop. Like practicising marshal arts. Dr also check the lips and everything is fine. The eyes is also forming and dr say the eyes will usually open at week 24, which is about time already. From the scan, dr vaguely mentioned "thk the eyes also small", then I'm thinking, oh ah, why not like me, why everything also small. But dr say its too early to tell also. Lets just hope the eyes is big like mine. Cos my hubby's eyes is small.

Baby is again overweight, mummy also has an rapid increase of weight. I am now about 61kg+. I have an increase of about 5kg for just two months. That is the main reason why I am having lower backache now, cos I am not the very big size kind, and yet the weight increase is too fast for me to take it. that is why its causing the discomfort. And baby is 740+gms. Average bb is supposed to be only 600gms at this stage. The baby's leg is also bigger than average. The baby is long, we so call tall. From what I heard from the doc over the last and this apt, I have a feeling that this baby resembles his daddy a lot. From the scan, I can see that the baby is now like a doll, having a round and big face (ah for this she looks like me), she looks pretty chubby from the scan.

Now, doc is worried that I have gestational diabeties and suggest me for a diabetic test three weeks later. Besides, as the baby is really bigger than average, she believed that the baby might have to arrive earlier than planned. So it might be push to first half of Mar 09 instead of end of Mar 09. If the pain comes naturally, its great, if not, then have to use manually way, which is induce. Once the baby reach 3.5kg, have to get her out. She is also trying to avoid C-Section for me, and me myself also do not want that to happen. I want to give birth naturally, so that I can see myself when the baby is out and I want to have a feel how is the process of giving birth naturally. My hb going for resvc in beg of Mar, doc worried it might clash. Hence, she wrote a letter for him, hoping for a deferment or skip for this round. She say I will definitely need him to be around during that critical period.

Now, really looking forward to my next apt. Baby is still kicking aggressively, she has been doing that since last night and this morning since I woke up. Yesterday my hb put his hand on my tummy and this is the very first time that he felt the movements of the baby. I was even praising the baby, good job.haaaa. Hb smile sweetly when he felt the movements of the bb for the very first time in life. I can even see the slight movements on my tummy when the baby is kicking. The feeling is simply amazing.

Bad mood swings

Had very bad mood swing recently....it often ends up in tears. I noticed that, but I don't understand why. I get easily upset by things that I do not wish to hear. Could it be the hormones creating the problem?

I was upset over my hubby's suggestion that my mil would like to come over to our house on Mon (Public Holiday), which means we got to stick at home the whole day. It's a public holiday u know. Prior to that, I suggested to my hubby to stay at home since he got projects to do. I was worried he cant finish by the due date in Jan. But it was he himself who mentioned that it's not a problem to go out since he's not one who can stick to the pc the whole day. So i don't understand why he wan to suggest that. I thought we can go out on that day to do some baby shopping....but obviously he forgotten what he mentioned just a day ago. He explained that it is a mere suggestion for discussion and I can always reject him. But the thing is, I'm upset over his suggestion.

As an only child, I feel his rship with his mum is very close. And this often adds a lot of stress to myself. I know he tried to balance his rship with his mum and me...but I often feel his mum need a lot of attention from him.

Yesterday, I heard that my mil a bit hesitates in looking after my bb when I told him that the thought of us staying together in future makes me very uncomfortable. I always thoughtthat she likes to take care of our bb and I dont wana deprive her of the chance. But I knew shes an outgoing person, I have my worries if shes suitable to take care of my bb also. When I hear that yesterday, I was shocked, worried that who will take care my bb for us. Why back off at this point in time. He say my mil is worried she cant cope. But if really no one looking after for us, she will still help us. He suggest us to stick to our plan for her to try out during my maternity period. So I made slight changes and want her to test out during the first month and let us know if shes okie a not, if not, let us know early instead of till the very last mth before i go back to work. I was thinking at the most, if i cant find a nanny for my bb, I take NPL to look after myself. I tell myself, I must learn the ropes for taking care of a bb, and I will do it all by myself. Afterall shes my bb and I have to be strong and learn. I am confident that I can do it.

The pass away of my grandmother(mum's side)

My grandmother (mum's side) passed away on Tue evening. I got the news soon after I left the office. Prior to that, I have already received a few false alarms as she hasnt been feeling very well ever since a few months ago. Talking about this grandmother, she is not very close to me. She is my mum's genuine mother, however, my mum has been sent for adoption soon after born. But ever since young, I knew that I have this grandmother, and has been visitng her occassionally since childhood. She has aged over the years. However, age is never a hindrance to her. She still continues to go overseas, attend all the weddings of her relatives and grandchildren. So does mine. She attended my wedding in June as well.

I still remember during chinese new year, I went to her house, and I told her, ah ma, I'm getting married in June, you must attend okie? She replied me, even if u didnt invite me, I will still attend. That was a very sweet remarks from a gdma that is not really close to me. But to her, all her grandchildren are important.

A month ago, I visited her knowing that she hasnt been feeling very well. I knew that that might be the last time I'm seeing her. I called her, but she didnt respond much, she looks less energetic than before...in fact, very much different from the ah ma I know. She looks so tired and dozing off in her wheelchair. From what I heard from my mum, it seems that they are not very sad cos my ah ma is already almost 90 and she is considered as very hao ming. Hearing that, I feel a sense of consolation. I really hope ah ma can find her happiness in heaven with ah gong.

My detailed scanning at 5th month

I went for my detailed scanning on thur. A day I been looking forward to. Cos I get to see my baby again. This time the gyne confirmed that its a girl. I get to see more of my little ger during this detailed scanning too as the gyne need to check for a lot of things like leg, spine, heart, brain etc.
The bonus I got today is my gyne told me my baby has a small nose and a small mouth just like her daddy...wah im suprised, i didnt expect her to be able to tell at my 5th mth. She also say the eyes also look like her daddy, pointed up... but I was doubting, if its really pointed up shouldnt it be like me? cos my eyes is just like that.. but too bad, I cant verified cos I dont know how to see.
The gyne was explaining a lot of things to me while scanning through, but there are a few times when I didnt manage to understand what was she trying to say..haa..cos its too techincal...so I just ask, is it okie? normal? as long as she says its normal, then im happy.
Again, the gyne commented my little girl is very active, kept turning around...busy playing. I even saw my girl yawning...its so cute..and the baby seems to be sucking on the placenta...the gyne say shes practicising the sucking method so that it aids in breast feeding when she comes out.
There was time when the gyne ask the baby to turn this side, but my girl jus want to turn the other side..haaa..so naughty..but really so cute..and it results in the gyne having to shake the tummy a bit just to make the baby turn to the desired position.
Recently, I feel my tummy very bloated...and it seems like its because the tummy is expanding and its centralised at the centre of the tummy....thts y i feel so hard and bloated...n i thk i just have to get used to it. At 20wk/5th mth, my tummy finally can be seen...a bit ..by myself..haa..not sure if others can see, cos no one seems to give me seat in the bus/train.haaa
My gyne also highlighted to me that Im putting on a bit too much weight over one month time, about 3kg..which is too fast..haa..she wants me to slow down. My baby seems to be absorbing all I been eating also, cos shes also overweight at this stage...averagly, she should be weighing at 300gms..but it turns out to be 390gms...haaa..i thk my appetite is better recently, thts y i been eating non stop..and also others kept commenting my tummy is small, so i kept eating hoping can let baby grow bigger...haa. Seems that, tummy big doesnt means baby is also big...tummy small doesnt means baby is small..
As long as I knew my baby is good and healthy...Im really contended. And I really feel very very happy after the checkup on thursday..
Olivia, mummy & daddy loves u.

Movement of the baby

Today its the first time that i feel the movement of the baby...its very light, just a motion sort of movement..in fact, I wondered if thats really bb movement. But i choose to believe it.
Its so light that I have to concentrate to feel it. When I do some research in the net, its really true that I should began to feel the bb at this time.

While an ultrasound can identify fetal movement as early as 7 to 8 weeks of pregnancy, women generally don't begin to feel the baby move until sometime between 16 and 22 weeks or later, particularly if it's the woman's first pregnancy. The initial sensations you'll notice aren't real kicks, either. Instead, some women describe the feeling as being like popcorn popping or butterflies in the stomach. If you don't feel any activity by 22 weeks, ask your doctor or midwife about it.After a while, you'll begin to discern a pattern to your baby's movement and you'll know if something's amiss. If he's not moving as often as he usually does, your baby may be in distress. Ask your practitioner when and how to count your baby's kicks.

I'm pregnant!!!

I think Im really not suitable to blog....cos I kept procratisnate even thought I really got something I would like to blog it down for memory.
Over the past few months, not only Im busy settling down a new life, I am also learning to manage the body changes I have. That is because I'm pregnant!!! Although, my serious mood swings, change in temper has been giving me the possible symptons of pregnancy, but I was still very shocked when I see the positive sign at the pregnancy test kit. Me and my hubby yell out of shock early in the morning.
It was really a suprise to both of us. It wasnt a planned one, but we are still very very happy to have the baby. It is a gift from the god. We really feel that its fated that the god want to give us this baby, because its really not easy to conceive at that point in time, which we thought its safe period..haa..but nothing is safe anway. Even gyne agrees that by right its safe, but sometimes things just happen. Sinces its a gift from god, the more we have to dote and take good care of the baby...esp me myself whereby I have the greatest responsibilities to walk carefully, eat carefully and be careful in everything I do for the sake of our bb.
Now I am 4 months preganant. The first trimester is over.
During the first trimester, some of the problems I have is the nauseoness, vomitting and poor appetite. When Im hungry, I feel nauseous, when Im too full (which I always are), I get the feeling too. If the baby dislike the food, I will vomit. My appetite in general is poor, I ate very little...that is why I tried to keep my food intake little, but more meals. I am also very tired during my first trim. Compared to many others like my sis, I think I am already quite fortunate...these problems are minor compared to theirs. Because of this new family member we are having, my hubby decided to get a car when both of us feel that the coe is always quite low at that point. With the car, my hubby can drive me to work everyday, and this saves me the hassle and trouble of changing 2 bus and 1 train in order to get to the office everyday. This decision was made very fast, just within 2 weeks after I knew we have the baby.
I am always looking towards the medical visits to the gyne, because I get to see my baby during the scan. Its amazing seeing the baby growing from an embryo to a foetus....etc. I was so stunned when I first heard the heartbeat of the baby, it is so loud and fast...and I feel so sweet when i saw my baby waving hands at us. I can never describe the feeling..its undescrible.
Now as Im moving into my second trimester, I should be expecting my tummy to get bigger and bigger. Now, its still not very obvious, however, the gyne said that by 20th week(a mth later), it should be very obvious.
Is the baby a boy or a girl?
My maternal instinct and some supersitious games/method that I used, seems to tell me that the baby is a girl. However, I cant confirm till my gyne check for me. On 16 Oct, I was so anxious when I went for my usual medical apt, cos my gyne promised that she will check the gender for me. Many people ask me which gender I prefer? When I tell them I got no pref, they dont believed. But seriously, we did not want to set any hopes for a girl or boy since the begining, because if we did not get that gender, we will be disappointed. Hence, we deicded that we are fine with either gender, as long as its healthy and well. If I say I want a boy, thats because of the traditional thinking. However, inside me, I knew I prefer a girl, cos girl is sweet, and I seems to be bored with my two nephews at home. haaa.
My baby was sitting down when I was doing the scanning on 16 Oct. This is the first time that I see my baby sitting. The baby was using his/her hand to touch his/her head when I am looking at the screen. The baby is so cute, still as active as before..during my oscar scanning a month ago, the baby was not cooperative, the baby was so active turning left and right enjoying himself/herself. That is why, we have great difficulties getting baby turning to the correct position to allow the nurse to do the measurement. But its really fun.haaa.
As my baby is sitting down, the gyne immediately aim to the bottom part and have a look. Oh, the baby's leg was also slight apart, and this give the gyne a good position to view the gender. ITS A GIRL. Its pretty obvious, even both of us can tell even if the gyne never says anything. However, the gyne only dare to say 80% accuracy at this point in time, and will confirm once again during the detailed scanning next month.
Yeah, Im right. Im so keen in buying some beautiful clothes for my baby girl...and not to forget the hair band...haaa..looking fwd to my next medical apt.
